2nd ANNUAL MATT BROWN GALA
FAMILY, FRIENDS, COMMUNITY: OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER
TD GARDEN SEPTEMBER 24, 2011

In partnership with the Boston Bruins Foundation and Journey Forward, the Browns are happy to announce that the 2nd Annual Matt Brown Gala - Family, Friends, Community: Our Journey Together - will be held on Saturday September 24, 2011 7:00-11:00 pm at the legendary TD Garden, home of the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins.

Please join Matt, his family, and celebrity guests for a wonderful evening in this spectacular venue. There will be terrific live and silent auctions, raffles, drinks and hors d'oeuvres, and fabulous entertainment provided by Mark Morris and the Catunes.

There will be autograph and photo opportunities with celebrity guests and you will also have the chance to participate in an interactive journey to experience some of Matt's everyday challenges and part of his rehab work out.

Also that evening the first MB3 awards will be presented. The MB3 Never Quit Award will be presented to a youth hockey player who has exhibited extraordinary spirit and determination. The MB3 Unsung Volunteer Award will be presented to a long serving youth hockey volunteer who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment.

Having learned first-hand the critical roles that help and hope play in the lives of those who suffer spinal cord trauma and other devastating diagnoses, the Browns are pleased that this year's event will also benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation and Journey Forward, both 501(c)3 entities. Established by owner Charlie Jacobs, the Bruins Foundation is the team's charitable organization which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for children throughout New England. Journey Forward is an organization committed to bettering the lives of those with spinal cord injuries through a intense exercise program.

We look forward to sharing another terrific evening in support of Matt and his family and in support of these deserving organizations, the Boston Bruins Foundation and Journey Forward, that do such great work for those who need it in our communities.

TRIUMPH

On Saturday, October 9, Matt and many family members and friends participated in the Walk a Mile with Dan fundraiser at Journey Forward in Canton. On that day, Dan Cummings, the founder of Journey Forward, walked a mile for the first time in 10 years. Dan suffered a spinal cord injury 10 years ago in a diving accident. Paralyzed from the chest down, Dan was told he would not recover and would never walk again. Dan did not accept that prognosis. In 2003 he found a facility in California - Project Walk - that offered unique therapy to spinal cord injured patients. He moved to California and engaged in intensive, continued physical therapy for 3 or 4 years at Project Walk. Dan left California with the aid of only a walker. He came home to Massachusetts and founded Journey Forward, a facility in Canton dedicated to patients with spinal cord injuries, so that those coming after him would not have to leave home to get this vital treatment. Journey Forward provides the same type of intensive, cutting-edge therapy Dan received at Project Walk. It is the only facility in this part of the country that offers this type of treatment - and hope - to patients with spinal cord injuries. Matt has been receiving therapy at Journey Forward since June. The Brown Family is profoundly grateful to Dan for founding Journey Forward and providing Matt and other patients the opportunity to get this unique therapy close to home. It was a great day for a great cause and all who were present couldn't help but be moved and inspired by Dan's tremendous effort and achievement. Brown family and friends were happy to participate in this fundraiser for Journey Forward. If you would like more information on this wonderful facility, please visit the website at http://www.journey-forward.org.
