Hi Matt, can't help but think of you daily. I know you have a long road ahead, but just take it a little at a time. One hour, one day at a time. I am proud to live in Norwood where the town has come together for a great cause. It's good to know people can come together to help others out. It's good for people to be able to think of others and not of themselves. Best of luck in your recovery. It has been a pleasure for this town to help you out.

Hello Matt,
I was a wrestling coach a King Philip High School. One of my wrestlers, Donald McNeil, had gone to Virginia with his father to wrestle in a summer tournament. Unfortunately, he was thrown and ended up breaking his neck and could also not move from the neck down. He was lucky that there just happened to be a medical facility that specialized in spinal cord injuries. Eventually they ended up flying him to Spaulding Hospital in Boston. While at Spaulding I can remember seeing him hooked to machines that helped him to stand. It seems like your situation is somewhat similar. After leaving Spaulding (for home), he parents asked if I would mind becoming Donald's personal trainer. The reason I am telling this story is that Donald started getting some movement back, like you, and after speaking with Spaulding Physical therapists I started taking Donald to World's Gym in Foxborough. In the beginning Donald couldn't curl 5 pounds with his wrist, but slowly started regaining strength. It was a lot of hard work, but Donald perservered. After time, Donald started getting much stronger and may have even become stronger than before the accident. He had missed his whole wrestling season but miraculously he had gotten clearance to wrestle of all things. I wasn't sure if I was ok with Donald wrestling again, especially where he hadn't wrestled all year and the team was getting ready for the post season. Not having wrestled a meet all year, Donald proceeded to win the Div 2 Central Sectionals and the following week went on to become the Div 2 State Champion. This was a miracle. Donald had had pieces of cadaver fused into his neck and metal braces. I'm not sure of the extent of your injury, but I've typed this to inspire you to keep up the fight as Donald did and there's no telling where it might lead. Walter Laskey

Dear Matt, Heard about your situation through prayer requests from my FB cousins in MA. I live in Columbus GA and was thrilled to hear that they moved you to the Shephard spine center. It is a great rehab facility and with God's help many miracles leave that place!! Every situation is uniquely different but so many seriously injured folks make tremendous progress. Nothing is impossible with God!! My brother John Rota (Easton MA) just organized a charity hockey game between Oliver Ames HS and MA State Police and part of the proceeds will go to your fund. Senator Scott Brown showed up and so did Joey Kramer from Aerosmith!I will continue to pray for you and your family. Hey there Matt,
Lisa from the Prescott neighborhood dropping you a note. The entire Town is in a frenzy right now!! You can't go any where without seeing a #3 - in a house window, on a front lawn, on a t-shirt, on a hat...you can't go any where without hearing about you - at the Little League Opening Day, on the t.v. news announcing the Gala Event, at a 5-year old's birthday party mom's talking about your progress. This is BIG!! This shows how much love is coming right at YOU!!

Hey there Matt!
Lisa from the Prescott neighborhood writing to you at 7:00 am the day after your Gala event. I can't wait for you to hear from friends and family about how big and awesome it was!! The entire Town was there (yes, the ENTIRE Town). It was amazing! The smiles and all the love last night were for you and your family!
Well, gotta get the boys ready for soccer this morning (my son chose #3 for his soccer shirt, "just like Matt Brown!" he yelled with excitement). I can't wait to see how many #3's show up around town today (so many people were buying #3 hats, shirts, and buttons last night!!)
Stay strong and see you in the 'hood next week!!

Hi Matt, like many - you don't know me but I wanted to say keep smilin and keep workin hard. I was at the gala last night and just wanted to say you have a fantastic family! I know your uncle Steve (Bub) and your cousins. Your mom gave a terrific talk to us all. And your grandfather was there and on a film. I know you will hear about it all. Your family is so strong and impressive - its easy to see where you get it from. So I know you've got it in you to keep strong. Hearing about you from so many, I know you would of liked seeing all the cool stuff at the auction. I got a pic with Mr. Raymond Bourque. It was like waiting in line for Santa. Hope you can watch some of the B's today. Good Luck. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Hey Matt! Just wanted to say that your story has touched the hearts and minds of many in our community of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada. Being from a community where hockey is the number one sport, I couldn't help but to comment on how much of an inspiration you are to many young hockey players, not only in your country, but in ours as well. I heard your story on one of the American news channels, and was compelled to check out your website! Keep up the good work kiddo...you've touched the hearts, minds, and most powerfully, prayers, of many people around the globe! With the power of prayer (and the power of your determination), you WILL make a full recovery! Cheers!

I'm a late comer in posting a comment Matty, but it only shows that we are still thinking about you. I don't know if you saw comments on Boston.com, but I put my favorite saying out there for you. I wrote it when I was you age, back in New Hampshire:

The future isn't where my life is; it's in the moments I'm in.

I would love to know what you think about those words.

Best to you Matty, every day.
